About Us
Nestled in the hills of Saucon Valley, Pennsylvania, the Club's origins began in September 1934, when a group of nine clubs, whose members were all part of the supervisory force of the Bethlehem Steel plant of Bethlehem, PA, petitioned the Commonwealth of PA to incorporate all 9 clubs into one non-profit corporation called the Bethlehem Steel Club. The Steel Club, as it came to be known, was originally formed to foster competitive sports, social interaction, good fellowship, and technical discussions.
In 1946, the Club hired a world-renowned course architect, Donald Ross, to design and build an 18-hole course. The facility was opened in 1948 as a par 71 course. This was one of the very last courses that Donald Ross has had a personal hand in designing and building because of his declining health. In 1958, a second tract of land was purchased, and an additional 9 holes were built. Steel Club's Championship 18 has hosted multiple U.S. Junior Girls’ Championship Qualifiers and U.S. Open Local Qualifiers.
In 2018, under new ownership and name, the ideals of the Club live on again. Our 280 acres include 27 holes of a Championship 18 and Hill 9; a TrackMan driving range; indoor practice area with many chipping, hitting and putting bays as well as a TrackMan simulator; a nationally ranked disc golf course; Olympic sized swimming pool; and a 27,000 square foot clubhouse that encompasses the Blackplate Ballroom that accommodates up to 200, the BeamYard and Grace Room a la carte dining facilities that overlook our 100 seat patio with views of the 18th green, and many more private rooms available for your special event. Our experienced staff caters to your every need, making sure you are always comfortable and welcomed.
Building upon developments we have already made over the past four years as Steel Club, plans are already in motion for 159 townhouses, a heated two-story driving range, tennis courts, full athletic turf field, and more!
